Home, by Definition

by Monica Crumback

Home
is the natty chair
where both cats sit,
it’s cushions worn soft,

and the rug, bright red,
that my feet fall on
with both socks off.

It’s the rustic lamp with
the leaden shade, bulb
barely glowing through,

illuminating dust and grace
as time fills up the room.

-refers from the word red in J.P. Dancing Bear’s poem Red Defines
